We want you to experience what the county has to offer with a diverse set of programs, activities and events being planned by our Special Events team. We hope to provide our residents and visitors with safe and fun events that not only provide an alternative to their daily schedules, but also improve their quality of life. Come join us as we develop a community in Spartanburg's own beautiful backyard.

Special Events

Christmas at the Grove Park Inn

gingerbread-house.jpgOn December 18, 2008, SCPRC's new 50+ group will be heading to Asheville's Grove Park Inn.  We are going to view the National Gingerbread House Competition and Display.  We will also eat at the Holiday Lunch Buffet.  The bus still has seats left for this trip.  The cost is $45 for in-district and $56.25 for out-of-district.  This includes transportation, free admission to the Gingerbread House display, and lunch buffet.  We depart from the Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation Commission (9039 Fairforest Road) at 8:30am and return at 5pm.  Call Erin Pettit at (864)595-5356 or email her, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Daddy-Daughter Dance

Daddy Daughter DanceMemories will be created at the Spartanburg County Parks and Recreation Commission's annual Daddy-Daughter dance on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Cleveland Park.  Fathers can look forward tos pending a special evening with their children dancing and dining in an elegant setting.  This is a great opportunity for fathers and daughters to spend quality time together.  Girls age 5-12 may attend.  Tickets are $15 per person and include admission, dinner, and a photograph of the evening.  For more deatils and to RSVP, email Pauline Jones at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it   or call (864)595-5356.

Easter Egg Scramble
