13,000 plastic eggs plus 1,500 children equals one great morning of family fun! Children from toddlers to 10 years of age come together at the USC Upstate Youth Soccer Fields for the largest Easter egg hunt in the upstate! Here’s how it works: children are divided into four age groups, toddler-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-7 years, and 8-10 years, and are led to their hunt areas by Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers. At the sound of a bullhorn the action begins! Everyone comes away with something, and the lucky children who find prize eggs collect an extra gift.
The Great Easter Egg Scramble is held annually on the Saturday preceding Palm Sunday. The morning starts with a special magic or clown show while the Easter Bunny greets the arriving crowd. Inflatable amusements, a trackless train, temporary tattoo tent, and petting zoo are open for the delight of the children before and after the hunt. Be sure to bring your camera to take a photo of your own little Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor’s Photo Garden. All children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring a basket or bag to collect their eggs. This is a family friendly event with an emphasis on fun rather than competition!
