“Super Kids Program” was a huge success throughout the 2007-2008 school year. This year Super Kids Program will be implemented in all AYC sites starting in October. This program teaches on three dimensions; nutrition, fitness/wellness, and character development. This is an innovative program that was developed as a competition between AYC sites. The site that implements the most programs wins a wacky field day and fresh, healthy snacks as a prize. This is measured using 6 criteria:

                                                4. Creative Arts

                                                5. Spreading the Word

                                                6. Guest Speaker

This program allows for the children to help in planning activities by giving them specific ways they can contribute to the education process. For example, some children suggested that their’ parent come as a guest speaker because she/he was a Nurse. Other children were able to “Spread the Word” by helping develop a campaign that got the word out about nutrition. All of these programs are fun & actively engages the participants in the learning process; which allows for behavioral & attitudinal changes.
